Win-win situation gained by Sino-Africa co-op

The Merowe Dam, built by a Chinese company, on the Nile River in the Sudan successfully dammed the main river course last year and brought benefit to the local people as a key water control project to make sufficient use of the water.
The project of the Merowe Dam, contracted by a Chinese company, was a typical example among the cooperation projects on Sino-Africa economy and trade.
By the end of Oct., 2005, the total volume of contractor on engineering and labor service that China invested in the Sudan exceeded US$ 38.7 bln. The trade Sino-Africa volume shot up to US$ 40 bln in 2005. The multiple structures is going on as the rapid development of Sino-Africa economy and trade cooperation.
The Chinese company increased the employment and tax revenue of the investing country, offered useful technology to African countries, trained more local people, improved the productive force of African countries and promoted mutual development between China and African countries.
Thanks to the attention and support of the Chinese government, Huawei, the telecom enterprise of China, signed contracts of telecom with Kenya, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, with the total volume amounting to US$ 442mln. It also helped African countries improve telecom facilities. Huawei also invested more than US$ 7mln in the capital city of Nigeria, established a training center for various products and service personnel, especially the personnel of telecom.
China and Africa countries have strong complementarities in economy. China will keep expanding new strategic partnerships with African countries to push forward the Sino-Africa cooperation on economy and trade.
