Huang Baodong Meets Ethiopian Minister
In September 19, the Deputy General Manager Huang Baodong met in headquarters building the visiting Ethiopian Minister of Construction and chairman of Electricity Company Mr. Feikuru. The two sides had a cordial conversation, and exchanged views on issues of progress in the construction of the hydropower project Taikeze in the way of Sinohydro Corporation the sponsor in the joint venture.
The Minister expressed to Huang Baodong the great significance of the item Taikeze putting into operation to the government of Ethiopia, the Ethiopian government conveyed concern over the progress of the project and hopes that Sinohydro Corporation will attach great importance the project.
Huang Baodong recalled the the progress and main problems encountered of the project since it began and stressed that as a contractor the Corporation had engaged in the project work, and has taken many positive steps to resolve technical problems, and gave recommendations to owners and engineers to submit a rush program. It was regrettable that the owners did not respond most of the recommendations positively. For the progress of the construction project, we hope that all parties work together to ensure that the project is carried out smoothly. For all the controversy and we hope that we can get the contract under perfect solution.

Taikeze hydropower project is the largest hydroelectric power project in Ethiopia, and is located at the middle of the Talkeze river in north-west Ethiopia Teaklei areas. The project is thin-wall double arched concrete dam; the highest dam reaches 185 meters, and pouring amount reaches up to about 1.04 million km2. The project started in June 2002, the peak construction works have entered the stage of concrete pouring, grouting, and other equipment and metal work in full swing.
