Fan Jixiang Representing Sinohydro to Sign the Treaty of Sudan Roseires Dam Heightening Project
At 12:00 of April 27 Khartoum local time, CCMD joint management composed of Sinohydro Corportion and Chinese Water Electricpower Foreign Company and Sudan DIU held grandly the signing ceremony of Roseires heightening project in “the friendship hall” which symbolizes the Sino-Sudan friendship.
Sudan President Elbashir and Sudan Government high-level officials attended the signing ceremony. General Manager of Sinohydro Corporation Fan Jixiang, General Manager of Chinese Waterelectricity Foreign Company Lu Guojun and Bureau Chief of DIU and Minister of Sudan Water Irrigation Department Osama represented each party to sign in the contract separately.
The contract of Roseires dam heightening project amounts to 396,000,000 US dollars, the time limit for it is 1308 days. The dam began to construct in 1960’s and is located in the Damazin city which is 550km south of Sudan capital Khartoum. The content includes raising in the whole original dam foundation to 10 meters, and shift, the overhaul and the renewal of existing water power control system, the reconditioning deep water bottom hole and so on. After raising the dam will span 25.1 kilometers, including 24.1 kilometer earth stone dam and 1 kilometer concrete dam, the storage capacity increases 4,000,000,000 cubic meters.
