Kenyan VP lauds cordial ties in meeting with Chinese governor
The Kenyan government appreciates the cordial relationship with the People’s Republic of China and hopes for further enhancement of ties, Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has told a visiting Chinese provincial governor.
The vice president made the remarks on Wednesday evening in Nairobi when receiving Hong Jiexu, the vice governor of China’s Fujian Province.
Musyoka said China had sponsored many projects in the country such as construction of roads, hospitals and canal development.
The on-going rehabilitation of the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and Uhuru Highway-Gigiri Road was being carried out by a Chinese company, Musyoka noted.
Hong said Kenya is one of the friendly African countries which attract Chinese companies for cooperation projects including road building and other infrastructure constructions.
He wished further expansion of cultural and economic ties with Kenya, offering to send a delegation to visit Kenya’s coastal city Mombasa and encourage more tourists to the beautiful east African country.
Also present at the meeting were Director General of Fujian Foreign Affairs Office Song Kening, Director General of Fujian Overseas Chinese Affairs Zeng Xiaomin and the head of China Wu Yi (K) Company.
